The Personalities of a Stranger

Creative Portraiture-Mini Assignment 3
Photograph a Stranger

For this assignment I chose to photograph using 35mm black and white film, and I printed on 11x14 in fiber paper.  The big question for this assignment is, what actually classifies someone to be a stranger.  I chose to photograph this family because even though I know their names, and I have met them before I don't really know much about them, which to me makes them strangers.  Through these images I wanted to capture their being shy and trying not to focus on the fact that I was there photographing them.  In each image they never look directly at the camera but I feel the emotions in each image show.

For this assignment, we are to visit the same place three times and week, and take twenty images each visit.  My place is my backyard, and these nine photographs are my favorites from the first three weeks of photographing.

The Quiet in One's Life

Creative Portraiture-Mini Assignment 2
Photograph a Family Member

For this assignment we were to photograph a family member using interior lighting, and we were to portray the word quiet.  It's the simple things in life, that allow us to have those quiet/peaceful moments.  My father was an inspiration for this assignment, in how he enjoys the the simple things to escape from all that makes life crazy.
