It's Awkward

Creative Portraiture-Mini Assignment 4
Self Portrait

For this assignment I wanted to capture my feeling awkward with photographing myself.  I have never enjoyed doing self portraits, but for this project I wanted to push myself to capture good images.  I pushed myself to go outside of my comfort zone, and by doing that I wanted to show that awkwardness in more of an intimate way.  My body positions are meant to represent my feeling uncomfortable.

  1. I think you are very successful with your goal with these images. There is a very strong feeling of awkwardness. The images have an uncomfortable feeling to them. They also really project a shyness to them. I really like that your face is not shown in them. It really lends to the meaning of the images.

The images themselves are also really strong. I sort of wish the focus on the second images was sharper on your foot because it is such a dominant part of the image but I could also understand how hard it would be to get the focus just right when you are not behind the camera. The images are wonderful.
